JCU’s Creative Writing Institute Announces 2012 Summer Institute Events

John Cabot University’s Institute for Creative Writing and Literary Translation is pleased to announce its full slate of events for the Summer Institute. This year, we have the pleasure of welcoming poet Billy Collins and novelist Joyce Carol Oates as our Writers in Residence.

Unless otherwise noted, all events will be held in the Guarini Campus Aula Magna Regina.

Wednesday, 23 May, 8:30 p.m., Reading by Former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Hass

Monday, 4 June, 8:30 p.m., Poets Chad Davidson and John Poch

Tuesday, 5 June, 8:30 p.m., “A Conversation with Billy Collins, Poet in Residence”. Note: This event is free of charge, yet requires a ticket for entry. A separate invitation will be sent for this event that will allow you to reserve up to two tickets.

Thursday 7 June, 8:30 p.m., Billy Collins will give a poetry reading at La Sala Grande in San Lorenzo in Miranda beside the Roman Forum. Note: this event is free of charge, yet reservation is required.

Wednesday, 20 June, 8:30 p.m., Student & Faculty reading including the finalists of Italy Writes, Guarini Campus, Secchia Terrace (weather permitting; otherwise, Aula Magna Regina)

Thursday, 21 June, 8:30 p.m., “A Conversation with Joyce Carol Oates, Novelist in Residence” and announcement of the winners of Italy Writes.

Friday, 22 June, 8:30 p.m., Joyce Carol Oates will give a reading at La Sala Grande in San Lorenzo in Miranda beside the Roman Forum Note: this event is free of charge, yet reservation is required.
