Corte Suprema di Cassazione

On Friday October 19, LAW 341 and LAW 219 students, together with Chiara Magrini, JCU Adjunct Assistant Professor of Law, visited the “Corte Suprema di Cassazione”, the highest court in the Italian judicial system.

Supreme Court Councilor, Giulio Sarno, explained to the students, with the translation of Dr. Susanna Ranucci, how the Supreme Court operates, its composition, and what its main functions are.

The students had also the opportunity to sit before one of the criminal sections of the Supreme Court and listen to the judge’s and lawyers’ final statements in a trial for fraud and plagiarism. Finally, the students visited the Supreme Court’s library, which preserves books dating as far back as the 14th Century.
