JCU Political Science and International Affairs Professor Lars Rensmann presented his research on radical parties at the Upper House of the Hungarian Parliament in Budapest. Prof. Rensmann’s presentation was part of an international conference on “Jewish Life and Anti-Semitism in Contemporary Europe” in the parliament on October 1-2, 2013.

The conference was organized by the Tom Lantos Institute, an independent research, education, human rights and minority rights organization, and supported by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Talking in front of many Hungarian Members of Parliament and conference attendees, Prof. Rensmann spoke about antisemitism and racism in public opinion and among radical right and left political organizations in European comparative perspective.

Speakers at the event included, among others, the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Tibor Navracsics, the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos, Israel’s Minister of Finance, Yair Lapid, and Ilan Mor, Israel’s Ambassador to Hungary, as well as social scientists Prof. András Kovács (Central European University), Prof. Andreas Zick (University of Bielefeld) and Prof.Jean-Yves Camus (Institute of International and Strategic Relations, Paris).
