Penguin Books has announced the publication of the new paranormal thriller, Skin of the Wolf, co-written by JCU English Professor Carlos Dews and award-winning mystery writer S. J. Rozan.

The book, which is scheduled for publication in late July, is the second in a series of books written by the two authors, who use the pseudonym of Sam Cabot.

According to the publisher, in Sam Cabot’s exhilarating new novel, a vicious murder in Sotheby’s begins a series of inexplicable events surrounding an Iroquois ritual mask—and a secret that could unleash the most terrifying chaos and destruction the world has ever seen.

Carlos Dews is Chair of JCU’s Department of English Language and Literature as well as Director of the Institute for Creative Writing and Literary Translation. His books include his edition of The Complete Novels of Carson McCullers (Library of America), and Illumination and Night Glare: The Unfinished Autobiography of Carson McCullers (University of Wisconsin). With Carolyn Leste Law, Dews edited Out in the South (Temple) and This Fine Place So Far From Home: Voices of Academics from the Working Class (Temple).

S. J. Rozan is the author of many critically acclaimed novels and short stories that have won crime fiction’s greatest honors, including the Edgar, Shamus, Anthony, Macavity, and Nero awards. Born and raised in the Bronx, Rozan now lives in lower Manhattan.

Booklist has described Blood of the Lamb as “a first-rate thriller” and Katherine Neville, author of the NY Times bestseller The Eight said, “Wow. Blood of the Lamb is totally unlike any novel ever written about vampires or secret societies or Roman art mysteries or Vatican conspiracies.”
