Content is King, Distribution is Queen

The John Cabot University Institute for Entrepreneurship (IFE) held a workshop on the latest promotional techniques with viral branded, and non-branded, video advertising. Andrea Febbraio, Co-Founder of Teads, taught us how to take advantage of the mobile apps we use every single day to not only make a living in the modern profession of “youtuber”, but to also how to build brand awareness through nontraditional advertising.
In this world, as Andrea put it, “Content is King, but distribution is Queen. It does not matter how great your content is if you do not know how to distribute it to your intended audience. Andrea illustrated the Ten Commandments of a viral video, a distillation of many years’ experience, with which you can become the next PewDiePie or Jérôme Jarre of YouTube, Vine, Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram. As part of the workshop we created our own videos, which turned out to be surprisingly attractive considering it was the first time for most of those in attendance. The point was driven home: anyone can do it, but not everybody can make it.
The workshop was educational and inspirational. Andrea gave us a professional insight into the world of YouTube, Vine, Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram and how we can become the next viral sensation. As he said to us on the last day, “If you have a message, try and deliver it. Remember: money follows the eyeballs!”
