IFE Welcomes Filippo Chiricozzi, COO of Moovenda

Filippo Chiricozzi, COO of Moovenda

Filippo Chiricozzi, COO of Moovenda

Founded in 2015 following the acceleration program at LUISS EnLabs, Moovenda is a food delivery company. It currently operates in Rome, Naples, and Viterbo and specializes in delivering high quality food, regardless of the distance from the restaurant.

Chiricozzi’s presentation focused on project management. He began by explaining what project management is: the identification, organization and implementation of all the tasks necessary to complete a project. The first written example of project management, Chiricozzi said, is found in Julius Caesar’s De Bello Gallico, in which he describes how to build a bridge over the river Rhine.

Chiricozzi then expanded on the tasks of a project manager: participating, coordinating, controlling and supporting. The project manager has to divide each project into multiple tasks (each with its own sub-tasks), and assign them to the relevant department within a company. Moreover, the manager needs to consider how long a task will take to complete. Finally, each task has to follow the SMART criteria. It needs to be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant (to the goal of the project) and timely (it needs to be completed within a time-frame).

The division of a project in tasks, Chiricozzi continued, creates the Work Breakdown Structure, or WBS. The WBS can be represented with the Gantt Chart, a bar chart created by Henry Gantt, a mechanical engineer and consultant, that illustrates the schedule of a project. Chiricozzi concluded the presentation by showing the students two useful tools in project management: Trello and Asana. Both are services which allow to visually organize the WBS of any project.

Chiricozzi will come back to the BUS 305 class for three more presentations, open to all students:
