Film Studies Professor Tijana Mamula Published in "Screen"
John Cabot University Professor Tijana Mamula has been published in the current issue of Screen, the leading international journal of academic film and television studies. Her essay, titled ‘Metaphorically seeing: the place names of Marguerite Duras’, explores the “use of sound–image disjunction in Marguerite Duras’ India Song (1975) in relation to migration, bilingualism and cinema’s metaphoric potential.”
Professor Mamula completed her PhD in Film Studies at King’s College London in 2009; she currently teaches courses in Documentary Film and Introduction to Cinema at JCU. Her primary research is focused on the relationship between cinema and language, particularly as it pertains to transnational cinema and film theory. She has published work in the journals Avanguardia, Bright Lights Film Journal, Scope, Studies in French Cinema, Transnational Cinemas and is also a contributing editor at NERO Magazine. Her first book, Cinema and Language Loss: Visions of Displacement, is forthcoming from Routledge (2012).
