JCU Announces Development of Rome-SPQR Society

John Cabot University Professors Eric De Sena (Art History and Studio Art Department Chair), Crispin Corrado and Linda Nolan are proud to announce the development of the Rome-SPQR Society, a local branch of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA), which aims to expand archaeological knowledge and appreciation of the ancient world through a wide variety of lectures and events open to the public.

The AIA is the largest professional organization of classical archaeologists in the world. In addition to their annual meetings, the AIA has dozens of local societies in North America which host lectures and other events.

The Rome-SPQR Society, which is the third society to be founded outside of North America, will hold its inaugural lecture on May 15th at 6:00pm at the American Academy in Rome. T. Corey Brennan, Andrew W. Mellon Professor-in-Charge of the School of Classical Studies, will present the lecture titled “Rebranding Rome: Archaeology and the 1960 Summer Olympics”.
