JCU Community Celebrates Election Night

Election Night at JCU

For the US Presidential Election of 2012, John Cabot University hosted a very special Election Night Party which took place at John Cabot’s Tiber Campus, beginning at 6pm on Tuesday night until the following morning.

Students, faculty, staff, and guests, as well as a number of journalists, gathered in the stars-and-stripes-decorated Tiber Cafe to closely follow the much-awaited result of the 2012 Presidential Race on TV.

One of the main events of the evening was a Trivia Contest where students, faculty and even John Cabot’s Dean of Academic Affairs, Mary Merva, grouped into different teams to answer questions about American pop culture and politics. The participants had their moment of glory when they performed an impromptu a cappella-singing of the United States National Anthem!

The long marathon concluded at 5am on Wednesday, with a much-deserved American breakfast consisting of pancakes and maple syrup.

For Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and professor of law Pamela Harris, one of the organizers of the event, it was “a great opportunity for the JCU community to sit together and talk about politics in an informal way as well as a moment of spontaneous aggregation and cultural exchange for people coming from different countries and backgrounds.”
