IFE Presents Spring 2015 Elevator Pitch Competition

Spring 2015 Elevator Pitch Competition

Spring 2015 Elevator Pitch Competition

On Monday, April 20 the JCU Institute for Entrepreneurship conducted the final round of the Spring 2015 Elevator Pitch Competition, in the Tiber Cafe. This year more than 100 students took part, an extraordinary number that testifies to the commitment of JCU professors who supported the event and helped students prepare. The quality of the performances this year was well above average, making the decision very challenging. After a tough round of closed doors competition and considering the exceptional amount of candidates, the jury was forced to expand the number of finalists, selecting 5 or 6 from each category rather than 3 as planned.

The pitches were persuasive, well-delivered and original. The atmosphere was filled with nervousness and enthusiasm, but students successfully defended their ideas during a Q&A session at the end of their pitches. After a careful evaluation of each presentation and intense discussion, the jury announced the winners:

Business Idea
First place: Emily Sabbadini
Second place: Mark Luzzi
Third place: Germana Piergallini
Honorable Mentions: Davide Menci, Caterina Ghedin, Anastasia Larina

Personal Pitch:
First place: Christine Modafferi
Second place: Nicholas Malpede
Third place: Jacqueline Greavu
Honorable Mentions: Sonia Di Palma

Social Advocacy:
First place: Zina Abu-Haydar
Second place: Daniel Callaghan
Third place: Alexander Remmel
Honorable Mentions: Angelica Mercatali, Allison Hall

The Institute gives a special thank you to the participating professors and jury. The overall quality of the pitches demonstrates the value of this learning experience and we look forward to next year’s competition.
