JCU Dedicates the Marc and Peggy Spiegel Student Center
John Cabot University officially dedicated the Marc and Peggy Spiegel Student Center on the evening of October 3rd with a ceremony at the Tiber Campus.
Dr. Spiegel, a great friend of the University who served on the Board of Trustees for almost twenty years, died on Thursday, April 28th, 2011 in Rome.
This dedication is a symbol of JCU’s deep gratitude and appreciation for Marc and Peggy Spiegel’s outstanding support of the University.
After a moving invocation by Monsignor James Checchio, President Franco Pavoncello welcomed JCU Trustees, faculty, staff, students, and guests. “It gives me immense pleasure to dedicate this Student Center to Marc and Peggy Spiegel in recognition of their great generosity and dedication to the University,” said President Pavoncello. Dr. Pavoncello went on to say that Dr. Spiegel was always a force of optimism and enthusiasm about the mission of John Cabot University and he touched many lives with his strength, courage, and unfailing support.
Peggy Spiegel then addressed the audience and said, “I am sure that Marc, with his great love for JCU, is with us in spirit today. I am very touched by this beautiful dedication and I am sure Marc would be too. Thank you and warmest wishes for the continued success of this wonderful institution.”
“No two people are more deserving of this honor than Marc and Peggy Spiegel,” said JCU Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Joseph Hagan. Recalling that Dr. and Mrs. Spiegel had dedicated themselves to the goal of students’ lifelong learning, Dr. Hagan said, ” I am very pleased to announce that Peggy will be joining the Board and thus have the opportunity to continue Marc’s wonderful work.”
The dedication ceremony also featured an uplifting performance by the Choir of the Pope’s Diocese led by Monsignor Marco Frisina.
