Professor Antonio Lopez Published in Essay Anthologies
John Cabot University Lecturer in Communications Antonio Lopez has recently been published in two essay anthologies dealing with media education and alternatives to the current monetary system respectively.
In What Comes After Money?: Essays from Reality Sandwich on Transforming Currency and Community, Lopez’s chapter, “Poverty (UnConsciousness)”, deals with the spiritual dimension of money making and happiness. The idea for the chapter originated in a post from Lopez’s Mediacology blog, and evolved into a longer piece for this book.
In International Perspectives on Youth Media: Cultures of Production and Education instead, Lopez’s chapter, “Practicing Sustainable Youth Media”, is probably the first essay to link student media making with sustainability issues, and deals with several of the ideas Lopez explores in his PhD research.
Antonio Lopez is the author of Mediacology: A Multicultural Approach to Media Literacy in the 21st Century. A member of JCU faculty since 2008, he currently lectures in Media Ethics and Advanced Communications Theory. During the Fall 2012 semester, he will also teach the CMS 323 – Media and the Environment course.
