John Cabot University Press Presents "InVerse 2012"
On the occasion of the University’s fortieth anniversary, John Cabot University Press is pleased to announce the publication of the fifth volume of InVerse Italian Poets in Translation, edited by Brunella Antomarini, Berenice Cocciolillo, and Rosa Filardi.
Founded in 2005 by JCU professors Antomarini, Cocciolillo, and Filardi, the InVerse festival is one of the University’s most important cultural events and has filled a need in Rome for a forum in which to read, translate, and discuss Italian poetry.
InVerse 2012 features the poetry of Andrea Zanzotto, Giuliano Mesa, Federico Zuliani, Elisa Biagini, Luigi Nacci, Alessandro De Francesco, Elisa Davoglio, Maria Luisa Spaziani, Elio Pecora, Annelisa Alleva, Sebastiano Aglieco, and Sonia Gentili.
“We have tried to seek a balance between featuring well-known poets who already belong to the history of Italian poetry and younger poets whose voices we believe deserve to be heard. In this issue we must give special mention to the fact that we have the privilege to host Maria Luisa Spaziani, one of Italy’s greatest poetic voices. On the other hand, we must recognize that many of the younger poets we have hosted over the years have by now developed their own unique styles and have confirmed their value in the literary milieu, both in Italy and abroad. Unfortunately this edition has also witnessed the death of two of our major poets: Andrea Zanzotto and Giuliano Mesa … We are most grateful to both of them for entrusting their poems to us and therefore we dedicate this issue of InVerse to them.” (from the Introduction)
Come to a celebration of the InVerse anthologies on June 13, 2012!
