Professor Carlos Dews to Co-write Two Novels with Award-Winning Mystery Author S.J. Rozan
JCU English professor Carlos Dews’s accomplished literary career has taken him on a novel path: he is co-writing two books with acclaimed mystery writer S.J. Rozan. The two authors recently signed a two-book deal with Penguin/Blue Rider.
S.J. Rozan, a native New Yorker, is the author of twelve novels. Her work has won numerous awards including the the Edgar, Shamus, Anthony, Nero, and Macavity awards for Best Novel and the Edgar for Best Short Story.
Few details have been released about the novels, apart from the fact that they deal with the world of supernatural suspense and that the first book is set in Trastevere.
Professor Dews is Chair of JCU’s Department of English Language and Literature as well as Director of the Institute for Creative Writing and Literary Translation. His books include his edition of The Complete Novels of Carson McCullers (Library of America), and Illumination and Night Glare: The Unfinished Autobiography of Carson McCullers (University of Wisconsin). With Carolyn Leste Law, Dews edited Out in the South (Temple) and This Fine Place So Far From Home: Voices of Academics from the Working Class (Temple).
Says Professor Dews, “I am extremely honored to work with S.J. in her first collaborative effort. We are having a great time working together.”
The two authors are almost finished with the first book and expect to release it in summer 2013.
