JCU Presents International Symposium: Framing Anacletus II

Prominent scholars from all over Europe and the United States will gather in Rome in April for an International Symposium dedicated to the figure of Anacletus II, (Anti)Pope, 1130-1138.

The international conference “Framing Anacletus II, (Anti)Pope, 1130-1138” will take place April 10-12, 2013, at Sapienza-Università di Roma and John Cabot University in Rome. The conference examines the papal schism of 1130-1138 with special attention to the pontifical ministry of Anacletus II (Pietro Pierleoni, the so-called “Jewish pope”) and its impact in Rome and in Europe; the papal election of 1130; and the shaping of the memory of Anacletus II both during and after the schism.
