President Franco Pavoncello Travels to Dublin with MSCHE

John Cabot University President Franco Pavoncello is currently in Dublin as a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education team visiting the Irish American University (IAU). The team is charged with issuing a recommendation concerning the accreditation of the IAU.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that is dedicated to quality assurance and improvement through accreditation via peer evaluation. Middle States accreditation instills public confidence in institutional mission, goals, performance, and resources through its rigorous accreditation standards and their enforcement.

The Commission accredits colleges and universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and selected locations abroad.

President Pavoncello, who holds a PhD. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, also participated in the three-member team which recommended Candidacy to IAU by Middle States. He has been a member of the faculty at John Cabot University since 1990, where he served as Dean of Academic Affairs from 1996 to 2005 while continuing to lecture in Political Science. In 2005, Dr. Pavoncello became Acting President of the University and was confirmed President in April 2006. The JCU Board of Trustees renewed President Pavoncello’s mandate for another three years, until June of 2016. A leading analyst of Italian politics, President Pavoncello is a well-known media commentator on Italian affairs and a contributor to the international
press.
