Professor Federigo Argentieri on Lecture Tour in Boston
On Saturday, November 24 Professor Federigo Argentieri – currently on a visit to Boston, MA – presented a paper at the 45th National Convention of the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES), entitled “Against Stalinist Communism, But For What?”, which referred to anti-totalitarian uprisings in Eastern Europe, from East Germany 1953 through Czechoslovakia 1968.
Subsequently, on Sunday November 25 Argentieri lectured at Dante Society of Massachusetts on the Italian situation, particularly on whether Silvio Berlusconi is likely to continue playing a primary role in national politics or not.
Finally on Monday, November 26 Argentieri has lectured at UMass Boston on “What Can the West Learn from Eastern Europe?”
On Tuesday, November 27 Professor Argentieri will also meet some distinguished faculty at Harvard University, notably Serhii Plokhii – professor of history and director of Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute – and Theda Skocpol, Victor S. Thomas Professor of Government and Sociology, to discuss issues of common interest on behalf of the Guarini Institute of Public Affairs.
Professor Federigo Argentieri is slated to teach PL 215 Italian Politics and Society, PL 345 Latin American Politics and Society and PL 355 East European Politics and Societies in the Spring 2014 semester.
