JCU Students Participate in Italian TV Program "Pane Quotidiano"

JCU freshmen Ilaria Colasanti (Rome), Marina Colasuonno (Bari), Silvia Calarco (Messina) were joined by Study Abroad junior Claire Shriver (Princeton, New Jersey) as participants in RAI TV’s Pane Quotidiano conducted by Concita De Gregorio. This daily broadcast focuses on the culture, stories and books that change Italy and is directed toward a young audience. Students from high schools, universities and academies of art and music are invited to participate in the show with their questions and observations.

Taking a break from their busy final exam week, Ilaria, Marina, Silvia and Claire were joined in the audience by students from the Italian National Academy for Performing Arts Silvio D’Amico. The episode was based on the novel Buio, a noir police-thriller set in contemporary Naples, by award-winning author Maurizio De Giovanni.

Mr. De Giovanni discussed with students the role of novels in telling the stories of the heroics, challenges, and victories faced on a daily basis by society in general.
