JCU Presents Panel Discussion on "Women in Leadership"
The Women in Leadership panel
On Friday, March 7th 2014, the Women’s Leadership Initiative, sponsored in part by Student Government and the Admissions Office, welcomed an international panel with speakers from various career backgrounds.
The panel began with a warm welcome from President Franco Pavoncello, who greeted the speakers and the audience, and addressed the vital role women play in leadership roles. WLI Founder Alexandria Maloney moderated the event by proposing stimulating questions about the progress of women in the workplace, finding the balance of work, as well as family-work relationships.
The discussion featured an international panel with women from career backgrounds such as government, business, telecommunications, and economics. The speakers included:
Mariarosy Calleri – Film Director & EU Ambassador of Female Entrepreneurship
Maria Lustri – Representative of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development
Serena Romano – President of Corrente Rosa
Gail Milissa Grant – Retired U.S. Foreign Service Office and Author
The Act4Growth initiative was also a focal point of the discussion. The panel explained its importance as an economic initiative taken by the European Union in order to increase involvement in female entrepreneurship.
Following the panel discussion, a buffet was served on the Secchia terrace for students and staff to engage the special guests in further dialogue.
