Professor Daniel Roy Connelly Awarded First Prize in Poetry Festival
On July 7, Dr. Daniel Roy Connelly, adjunct assistant professor of English Literature and Theater, was named recipient of First Prize in the annual Fermoy International Poetry Festival, based in County Cork in the Republic of Ireland.
In its third year, the festival, sponsored by The Blue Max Review, has become a unique event in the world of poetry. For four days in August, the town of Fermoy is transformed into poetic space with readings held in private houses, barbers’ shops, laundrettes, supermarkets and restaurants among many other impromptu sites.
Dr. Connelly will be flown to Fermoy at the beginning of August in order to participate in the entirety of the festival. He already has a poem lined up for the local police headquarters.
Congratulations to Prof. Connelly from the entire John Cabot University community!
