Interfaith Initiative Receives Grant From U.S. Embassy to the Holy See
The JCU Interfaith Initiative recently received an Embassy Grant from the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See in Rome. The grant will fund an International Scholar Series on interfaith dialogue. In addition to the lecture series, the Embassy Grant will allow the Interfaith Initiative to conduct interfaith student dialogue, outings, and learning activities.
Imam Yahya Pallavicini, Vice President of the Italian Islamic Community, inaugurated the series on November 6th with an inspired talk on “Imams in the West.” Four more scholars and practitioners of interreligious dialogue are scheduled to speak throughout the year at JCU. They will lecture to deepen students’ knowledge and understanding of different faiths.
The JCU Interfaith Initiative is based on an interfaith effort by professors and students. Their goal is to raise an innovative awareness and enduring presence of religious tolerance at John Cabot.
