JCU Students in Action: Viktor Sobra Delseny and Cristian Tracci at TEDxYouth in Rome
On Saturday, November 14 TEDxYouth welcomed 20 speakers from a variety of industries and countries to share with the audience their perspective on the topic, “Made in the Future”. Speakers with backgrounds in architecture, music, soccer, and others shared very inspiring stories regarding their lives and their views on the not very distant future of integrated technology and innovation. Among them, two JCU students: Viktor Sobra Delseny and Cristian Tracci.
Viktor, originally from France, is a freshman at JCU majoring in International Affairs. His speech began by describing the importance and use of communication to exchange ideas and knowledge. He explains that from the 6000 languages that exist, only 200 of them are actually spoken nowadays. This is because languages evolve over time. Recalling the existence of a common language used for trade in the past, he invites the audience to consider the possibility of another lingua franca in the future, which he forecasts to be English. He hopes that a common language will not only increase the sharing of information around the world through innovation and technology, but it will also be a way to release our personal creativity even more.
Cristian, Italian, is an International Affairs and Philosophy major at JCU. Over the course of his speech he focused on the importance of thinking. He explains that it is scientifically proven that humans cannot simply decide to stop thinking, it is something we do constantly throughout our day to interpret our feelings and our environment. He believes that we determine whether our thinking is productive or not. In fact, he encourages the audience to choose how to think, how to react to our external environment and expand our reasoning. In the end, only by thinking can we create new ideas, it is a power we have within and we should use it efficiently and effectively.
With their outstanding performance, both Viktor and Cristian are proof of the unique preparation John Cabot gives to their students, not only in terms of knowledge and training for their future, but also in terms of personal growth and qualification to participate in such events. In fact, one of the advantages of John Cabot University is the constant guidance offered by different professors, offices and clubs to each and every one of their students.
