JCU Presents "The Answer to the Hospitality Industry’s Needs," with Antonio Calia
On October 3, 2016 the JCU Institute for Entrepreneurship invited Antonio Calia, CEO of Manet Mobile, to Professor Daniele Pica‘s Operations Management class (MGT 330).
Manet is a service that is meant to be integrated in the hotels’ management system and aims at replacing the traditional in-room phone completely. It consists of two simple items: the first one is a personal mobile device that allows the hotel guests to make international calls, connect to the internet, reserve hotel services (room service, SPA, etc), and provides detailed guides on the most relevant city attractions and sites. The second item is a web platform through which the hotel management can customize the smartphones and send real time messages to the guests.
Manet Mobile was born from an idea Calia had during a trip to Hong Kong, where he rented a smartphone at the airport. He was satisfied with the experience, but upon returning to Rome, he started thinking on how the service could be improved. Shortly after Calia quit his job to concentrate on the project. The company currently focuses on 4 and 5 stars hotels in Rome to test its devices.
Calia’s vision is to eventually revolutionize the hospitality industry by providing a unique integrated software solution for the hotel management.
