The Top Five Marketing Tools: a Workshop by the Institute for Entrepreneurship
On Friday, October 21, 2016, the Institute for Entrepreneurship held a workshop on top five marketing tools with Mackenzie Garrity. A JCU alumna, Garrity is the CMO of Solenica, a premier Italian sustainable robotics startup, and the Founding Partner of Papavero Marketing, an Internet Marketing Consultancy that works with small to medium-sized businesses and startups in Europe and the United States.
In the day-long workshop, which is one of the two being organized by the Institute during the Fall semester, participants were taught how to use five of the top online marketing platforms: BuzzSumo, Canva, Buffer, Facebook Ads Manager, and Google Analytics. Garrity guided the students in creating a Halloween-themed marketing campaign from start to finish, from creating content to measuring audience response through analytics.
“I felt like I was part of a company,” said Marina Colasuonno, a student at JCU. “In designing a marketing strategy, I learned all the tools needed to fulfill the goals put in front of you,” she said. Brandon Flores, a senior from San Diego, agreed. “The workshop was very useful for understanding how to create content with Canva, and how to monitor the response to it. I also loved using BuzzSumo in order to find potential influencers,” he said.
