JCU Hosts Elevator Pitch Competition Final Round

On March 20, 2017 the Institute for Entrepreneurship held the final round of the JCU Elevator Pitch competition, now a well-known concept at JCU, thanks to the integration of this competition into the curriculum. An Elevator Pitch is a quick way of communicating the fundamentals of a project, a business idea, a social cause, or even one’s own qualifications. The aim is to capture the audience’s attention and spark an interest, while under strict time pressure.

The eleven students who made it to the final round of the competition at Tiber Cafe had only one minute to pitch in front of the jury and their peers. After their pitch, students were asked questions from the jury to further explain their ideas.

The judges were Professor Silvia Pulino, Business Administration Professor Robert Christofferson, and Stephanie Mitchell, CEO of Gymbag and Sunnystorm Marketing. Professor Pulino highlighted how challenging it was for the judges to select the winners considering the high quality of their performances.

The winners of the 2017 competition walked away with either a €100 Amazon voucher or a €100 donation in their name to a charity of their choosing.
