Professor Nicola Petrocchi to Present at Gerace Summer School
On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, Adjunct Professor of Psychology Nicola Petrocchi will be lecturing at the Summer School “Empathy and Compassion: From Contemplative Traditions to Neuroscience,” near Reggio Calabria, Italy. The summer school is promoted by the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and “Consciousness, Mindfulness, Compassion – CMC – International Association.” The School, which lasts from June 10-14, features leading experts in the field of contemplative, neuroscientific and clinical facets of mindfulness, empathy and compassion.
Professor Petrocchi, Ph.D, Psy.D, is a licensed CBT psychotherapist and student counselor. During his international Ph.D in Psychology and Social Neuroscience, he conducted research on the effect of Loving Kindness Meditation (LKM) on dysthymic patients. He completed Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Neuroimaging Laboratory, Fondazione Santa Lucia (Rome). Professor Petrocchi is now an accredited Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) therapist and trainer in Italy and Europe. He also established Compassionate Mind Italia, the Italian association for the research, training and dissemination of CFT in Italy. He is the author of several national and international peer review publications and book chapters.
