Prof. Scarpa Discusses “Human Rights, Migration and Global Governance” at ACUNS
Recently, JCU Professor Silvia Scarpa participated in the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS) Annual Meeting on “Human Rights, Migration and Global Governance” that was held at LUISS Guido Carli University of Rome. Professor Scarpa delivered a presentation on “Human Trafficking and Contemporary Slavery Law and the Second Draft of the UN Global Compact on Migration” at the workshop panel on “International Law, Human Rights and Migration” held on July 13. She also gave a talk entitled “The Slave Auctions in Libya and States’ Responsibilities (and Vulnerabilities) in the Field of Slavery and the Slave Trade” in the plenary session on “State Responsibilities, Human Vulnerabilities: Mitigating the Consequences of Mass Displacement and Migration” held on July 14. Finally, Prof. Scarpa chaired a workshop panel on the “Status and Law of Refugees.”
Professor Scarpa will be teaching the Courses “Human Trafficking and Contemporary Slavery,” “International Law” and “International Organizations” at JCU in the Fall 2018 Semester.
