JCU Regrets to Announce Passing of Douglas Denby, University's Third President
John Cabot University regrets to announce the passing of Douglas Denby, who was President of JCU from 1985 to 1996. Before coming to JCU, he had been in international banking and finance with Manufacturers Hanover Trust, working in Beirut, Rome, and Paris. When he arrived at JCU, it was known as John Cabot International College and was housed in a small villa with three classrooms. During Mr. Denby’s tenure as President, the University moved into the far more spacious and prestigious location of the Guarini Campus, a place that has become its historic home.
In commenting the death of Mr. Denby, John Cabot University President Franco Pavoncello said, “Douglas Denby was a great President and a great man who ensured the continued success of the University under very difficult circumstances. He will always remain in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family.”
