“Exporting Beauty:” Four JCU Representatives at First Italian Export Forum

“Esportiamo bellezza” or “Exporting beauty” was the motto of the Italian Export Forum (IEF), which took place in Piano di Sorrento, near Naples, on June 14 and 15. IEF is the first forum dedicated to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting the export of Italian products in the world.

Three JCU students, Camilla Carlesi, Demetrio Iannone and Sheryl Ragnetti, and a JCU alumna, Giulia Sollazzo, had the opportunity to participate. The four students were invited by IEF President Lorenzo Zurino, after the press conference held on May 9, 2019, at John Cabot University to present the forum. The students had to write and present white papers at the conference, in front of an audience of Italian entrepreneurs and investors interested in exporting their brands and products.

The students were assigned to follow three panel discussions and present them at the Exhibition of Works: Demetrio Iannone presented the think-tank on fashion, Camilla Carlesi the one on food, and Sheryl Ragnetti and Giulia Sollazzo the one entitled “How to close a successful deal abroad.”

More than 40 Italian top managers and entrepreneurs participated in the event. Italian and international journalists, such as Luca Marfé from Il Mattino, and Ilaria Iacoviello from SkyTG24,  politicians and ambassadors including the Consul for Political and Economic Affairs of the United States, Patrick Horne, Confindustria (Italian Industrial Federation) President, Vincenzo Boccia and the Italian ambassador in Qatar, Pasquale Salzano,  were also present.

During the closing remarks, Zurino invited the JCU students on stage, thanking them for their hard work and contribution to the event. Zurino also invited all the participants to take part either in the New York edition of the Export Forum in January 2020 or the second edition of the upcoming Forum in Piano di Sorrento next June 2020.

“Participating in the first Italian Export Forum was a lifetime opportunity that we will cherish forever; it really showed us the opportunities that John Cabot can offer. We were able to put our knowledge into practice and to dialogue with inspiring experts and managers from all over the world, in a breathtaking location. We strongly believe that what we learned from this experience will help us in the future, in any career path we will undertake.”
