JCU to Launch Major in Psychological Science in Fall 2020
John Cabot University is pleased to announce the launch of a new major in Psychological Science beginning in Fall 2020.
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychological Science emphasizes the scientific study of individual and group behavior and mental processes within a liberal arts curriculum, where exchanging ideas and developing critical thinking skills is an integral part of the learning experience.
The curriculum provides students with the foundation necessary to pursue advanced studies in the discipline, as well as giving them the opportunity to hone their interpersonal and communication skills. The Major’s emphasis on the scientific method fosters the development of analytical and quantitative skills that can be useful in a variety of domains, from social services to human resources, to sales and advertising.
By promoting a thorough appreciation of the social, cognitive and affective processes underlying human behavior, the BA in Psychological Science also offers students a unique opportunity to better understand themselves and others.
Requirements for the Degree
Students will take foundation courses in four core domains of psychological inquiry (biological, cognitive, developmental, social) as well as in research designs and statistical methods. Students will also explore the application of psychological theories and research in courses such as Clinical or Educational Psychology.
The curriculum was developed in accordance with the “American Psychological Association’s Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major.”
