JCU Students and Professors Showcase Creative Writing Talent

On December 5, 2023, the Aula Magna was filled with creative writers at all stages of their careers – from students at their first public performance to professors who are published authors. Twenty-five students from all the creative writing courses offered at John Cabot University signed up to read their work to the audience, and were joined by Professors Will Schutt, David Castronuovo, Fenella Collins-Smith, Aidan Fadden, and Lauren Sunstein.

The presenters read poems, short stories, non-fiction pieces and, for the first time, excerpts from three scripts, as the students of the Screenwriting course, taught by Professor Erika Tasini, took part in the event.

It was a great evening to celebrate the creativity and talent in the JCU community, and we look forward to the Spring 2024 showcase which will be held in collaboration with the Department of Art and Design and also involve the drama and theatre courses.

The Department of English Language and Literature wishes to thank Professor Elizabeth Farren for the organization, Professors Farren, Schutt, Fadden, and Tasini for helping the students to develop their abilities as creative writers, and every one of the speakers for making the showcase such a special event.

Thank you and congratulations to students: Vittoria Ferri, Sara Segat, Vishwa Parmar, Annalucia Scotto di Clemente, Christopher Maggiano, Noah Spergel, Federica Murgolo, Mariem Aribi, Catherine Schoenfeld, Mackenzie Konjoyan, Solana Fairburn, Ines Villarreal Senzatimore, Kathryn Williams, Benedetta Acquari, Tasnem Beienein, Joseph Adams, Kate Casper, Garrick Shull, Jackson Whisenhunt, Alice Gregorio, Barbara Peña, Silvia Vettori, Mariel Gousios, Temashengu Litchfield-Tshabalala, Meredith Brooks, Michaela Murphy, Laura La Forgia.
