Professor Daniel Roy Connelly Publishes Article in The Irish Times
English Professor Daniel Roy Connelly recently published an article in the newspaper The Irish Times titled “Daniel Roy Connelly: an Extravagant Stranger on his unusual Irish roots.” In the article, Professor Connelly presents his new book Extravagant Stranger tracking his Irish roots from a picture of one of his ancestors, Irish bareknuckle boxer “Gentleman Jim Connelly.”

Extravagant Stranger is a memoir as written in 75 blocks of poetic text, mostly under 300 words, published by Little Island Press.
Born in Essex, south-east England, Professor Daniel Roy Connelly has spent much of his adult life being educated in Italy, India, Bangladesh, the USA, Scotland, and China. Formerly a British diplomat, he has been an academic since 1999. He holds a B.A. from Columbia University, and an M.Litt. and Ph.D. from the University of St Andrews. He is also a published poet and playwright for which he has won several international prizes. He has directed theater on three continents.
