JCU Launches Dual Degree in Marketing with Pace University
Starting in Spring 2018, JCU marketing students will have the unique opportunity to earn a Double Bachelors’ Degree with Pace University’s Lubin School of Business (NYC), which is a leading AASCB-accredited business school located in New York City’s Financial District. Upon completion of the program, students will have earned a John Cabot University BA in Marketing and a Pace University Lubin School of Business BBA in Global Marketing Management. This program confronts students with the challenges of the EU and US markets: two of the most important consumer markets at the global level.
The goal of this dual marketing degree between New York and Rome goes far beyond that of providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity for JCU students. It is just as much about invigorating the business and entrepreneurial environment in Italy. In fact, this dual degree program is designed to build an energetic, intelligent, and innovative business class of young talents who can take advantage of the marketing and global management expertise of lower Manhattan and bring it back to Rome.
Dr. Mary Merva, CFA, JCU’s Vice President and Dean of Academics, is an economist who has worked on establishing the program over the past few years. In her opinion, universities should be agents of positive change and work towards developing the economies in which they operate. “We should consider students as “start-ups” and prepare them to contribute to a dynamic Italian business community. It is becoming their world and their networks and knowledge will matter. Now is the time to strengthen those networks and ensure that ties between the United States and Italy remain strong for future generations,” says Dean Merva.
In short, students will begin their university career at JCU by taking core foundation marketing courses while developing the critical and creative thinking and communication skills that characterize JCU’s liberal arts education. JCU students will then go to Manhattan to spend an entire year at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business. They will benefit fully from the marketing offerings and unparalleled networking opportunities that one can only find in New York City.
After their year at Pace, students return to JCU for their final semester and capstone course, bringing back their international marketing and management expertise, as they prepare for careers and graduate programs.
