JCU to Welcome Italian P.M. Giuseppe Conte and Journalist Greg Burke at Commencement 2019
John Cabot University is pleased to announce the special guests for the 2019 Commencement Ceremony, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and journalist Greg Burke.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte
Giuseppe Conte, who has been Prime Minister since June 2018, was born in Volturara Appula, in the province of Foggia in southern Italy. He earned a law degree magna cum laude from the University of Rome “La Sapienza.” In 2002 he qualified as Professor of Private Law and was assigned the Chairs of Private Law I and II at the Law School of the University of Florence. He has practiced the legal profession with several law firms and is co-editor of a number of legal journals. Among his most recent publications: L’impresa responsabile (Giuffrè, Milan 2018); La formazione del contratto (in the Codice Civile. Commentario, Giuffrè. Milan, 2018); He also co-edited with Prof. Guido Alpa, the book Fundamental Rights and Liberties in Contractual Relationships (Giappichelli, Turin, 2018). Prime Minister Conte was a member of the JCU Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2018.
John Cabot University will confer upon Prime Minister Conte the Degree of Doctor of Public Service honoris causa.

John Cabot University will also confer the Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, to journalist Greg Burke. A graduate of the Columbia University School of Journalism, Burke was the Rome correspondent for Time magazine from 1994 to 2001, before covering Europe and the Middle East for Fox News from 2001 to 2012. In 2012, he became Senior Communications Advisor for the Vatican Secretary of State, and in 2016, he became Spokesperson for Pope Francis – Director of the Holy See Press Office, a position he held until 2018.
The Class of 2019
The Class of 2019, the largest in JCU history, is made up of 208 students representing 29 countries. Graduating students come from Albania, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Ghana, Honduras, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Libya, Mexico, Moldova, Nigeria, Romania, the Russian Federation, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Spain, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The ceremony will also honor the first graduating class of the recently instituted M.A. in Art History.
The University’s 47th ceremony will take place on May 20 at the Villa Aurelia on the Janiculum Hill overlooking the city of Rome.
