President Pavoncello Welcomes Italian Senator Francesca La Marca to JCU
On Monday, September 11, 2023, Francesca La Marca, Senator of the Italian Republic, was invited to visit John Cabot University. She was welcomed by President Franco Pavoncello and Senior Advisor Jacqueline Falk Maggi and had the chance to learn more about the University.
Senator La Marca and President Pavoncello discussed the extensive selection of major and minor programs offered by the University, the diverse community reaching nearly 2000 students from 75 countries, the celebration of the university’s 50th anniversary, as well as the soon-to-be-launched Master of Arts program in International Affairs. Senator La Marca remarked on JCU’s ability to “provide students with a high-quality education with an international perspective.”
The senator, who has a Ph.D. in French Literature from the University of Toronto, praised John Cabot University for its academics and its commitment to students from Italy, the U.S., and all over the world. “JCU is an institution that brings the United States and Italy even closer together,” said La Marca.
Since 2013, Senator La Marca has represented Italian citizens residing in North and Central America in the Italian Senate, where she is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. She contributed, along with other representatives of the PD (Democratic Party), to supporting policies for Italians abroad. In Parliament, she has been committed to ensuring the full efficiency of consular services and the Public Administration for Italians abroad, strengthening the honorary consular network, consolidating policies for the promotion of the Italian language and culture, safeguarding the elderly, promoting youth exchanges, citizenship, as well as providing incentives for Italians abroad to become active participants in “heritage tourism.”
