Institute of Future and Innovation Studies Hosts Symposium on "Tech for Humanity: Open Standards, Trustworthy AI, and the Common Good"
On October 23, 2023, John Cabot University’s Institute of Future and Innovation Studies, in collaboration with the Boston Global Forum, hosted a groundbreaking symposium as part of the prestigious “Festival of Diplomacy.” This event, supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Commission, and European Parliament Representation in Italy, along with over 70 embassies and numerous academic partners, aimed to foster global coordination in shaping the future of technological development and regulation.
The symposium, titled “Tech for Humanity: Open Standards, Trustworthy AI, and the Common Good,” brought together experts, policymakers, and civil society representatives to explore the critical role of open technical standards and FAIR data principles in promoting safe, fair, and sustainable development of Artificial Intelligence.
Professor Francesco Lapenta, Director of the Institute of Future and Innovation Studies, opened the event with remarks emphasizing the importance of global collaboration in ensuring AI benefits humanity as a whole. The symposium was skillfully moderated by Fiamma Goretti from change.org Italia.
