Lunch Welcoming Ambassadors and Cultural Attachés from 40 Countries

Ambassadors Lunch

John Cabot University hosted an Ambassadors Lunch on Monday, June 6, welcoming 40 ambassadors, cultural attachés, and embassy representatives to the Guarini campus in Rome. Distinguished guests represented Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, China-Taiwan, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, East Timor, Ethiopia, Estonia, Germany, Ghana, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lesotho, Liberia, Lithuania, Madagascar, Mexico, Mozambique, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Panama, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, the UK, the US, Venezuela, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Ambassadors Lunch

President Franco Pavoncello welcomed the visitors to JCU and spoke about the importance of intercultural exchange and respect among future generations. He emphasized the international nature of JCU’s student body, which represents more than 70 different countries, and the “joint effort to create a dedicated group of international leaders capable of making our world a more peaceful, compassionate, and inspiring place.”

Student Government president Hazel Ebenezer, an International Affairs major from India, also spoke, urging all those present to take advantage of the significant opportunities for open dialogue afforded by an informal gathering with no set topic or agenda, attended by a hugely diverse group of people spanning countries, continents, generations, languages, and experiences. She expressed her desire that the conversations that would take place during the lunch serve to “open doors, change mindsets, and expand knowledge.”

John Cabot University offers merit and need-based scholarships to students from all over the world, including the Expansion Scholarships for meritorious students from Central America, South America, and Mexico; and the new merit-based Frohring Scholarships, thanks to a generous $1 million donation from the Frohring Foundation, for students from developing countries.
