On Monday, March 21, 2016, the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs welcomed JCU Alumnus Leonardo Quattrucci for the inaugural lecture of the Distinguished Alumni Series.

Entitled “From JCU to the EU: The Role of Liberal Arts Education in the Globalized World,” the lecture reflected on the growing importance of the skills acquired through liberal arts education – from critical thinking and “learning how to learn” to interdisciplinarity and team work – in the global context.

Italian, Leonardo graduated from JCU in 2013 and went on to earn a Master of Public Policy from Oxford University. Leonardo is the youngest policy adviser to the Head of the European Commission’s European Political Strategy Centre (who directly advises the president of the European Commission and leads EU inter-institutional foresight), He coordinates six teams and specializes in the future of work and institutional innovation. He was recently featured in the inaugural edition of Forbes magazine’s “30 Under 30 Europe” list.
