Professor Sorgner Interviewed On German Public Television ZDFinfo
Professor Sorgner, one of the world’s leading post- and transhumanist philosophers, was asked to comment on the recent advances of medicine on prosthetic devices. The new prosthetic devices
created nowadays provide the owners with enhanced capacities compared to one’s biological limbs. For this reason, many people might even choose to have their biological limbs replaced with mechanical or digital counterparts. This development raises an enormous amount of ethical and anthropological questions, which are being addressed by posthuman philosophies.
Professor Stefan Sorgner joined John Cabot’s faculty in Spring 2016 after teaching at a number of universities across Germany and Austria. He is currently the director and co-founder of the Beyond Humanism Network, Research Fellow at the Ewha Institute for the Humanities at Ewha Womans University in Seoul and a Fellow at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies (IEET).
