2014 JCU MUN Conference Debate Food Security in Developing World

From February 13th to 15th, the John Cabot University Model United Nations Society (MUN) held the 2014 JCU MUN Conference. Forty-five high school students from Rome convened in the Aula Magna Regina to act as delegates in a simulation of a UN General Assembly meeting. The topic at hand was Food Security in the developing world.

Genetically modified crops and foreign direct investment in the agriculture sector were major points of contention among the countries represented. However, despite conflict, the delegates managed to draft and pass a strong resolution addressing the issue.

During the Closing Ceremony, the conference chairpersons honored the distinguished delegate of the People’s Republic of China with the Best Delegate Award and the distinguished delegate of Switzerland with the Best Position Paper Award. Overall, the Conference was a success and the JCU MUN Society looks forward to hosting the event next year with a new topic and new faces!
