Business Club Receives Generous Donation from Dr. Ali Reza Arabnia
By Valeria Borghetti, Business Club Vice President
On February 15, 2014, John Cabot University’s alumnus and Trustee Dr. Ali Reza Arabnia donated 2,500 euros to the Business Club as an investment in future projects the Club will undertake.
Having himself been an active member of the University’s community, Dr. Arabnia truly supports and believes in JCU. During the Fall 2013 semester, Dr. Arabnia invited the Business Club to visit his company, Geico SpA, in Milan. In addition to providing the students with mentoring and guidance, the entrepreneur also shared his personal experiences and tips on how to grow into the world of business.
Born and raised in Teheran, Dr. Arabnia graduated from John Cabot University in 1983 and has been a JCU Trustee since 1998. He has often been described as a unique example of a CEO guided by ethical principles and a courageous and creative approach to problem-solving in times of crisis.
During the Fall 2013 semester the Business Club found itself at the center of a very interesting reinvention process. Thanks to the collaboration of active participants, as well as the presence of a passionate Board, the activities introduced to the Business club revolved around both ethical organizations such as Oxfam Italia, as well as business-focused endeavors, such as the Elevator Pitch Competition. The club also collaborated with the JCU Institute for Entrepreneurship by organizing public lectures and seminars which enabled the participants to network and gain further knowledge on professional environments.
Dr. Arabnia’s donation will be mostly allocated to finance the various educational and networking events and activities. After having visited the renowned Castello Banfi winery in Tuscany last month, the Business Club is now focusing on planning a trip to the Microsoft headquarters in Milan, hosting the Oxfam Italia event, as well as organizing the Elevator Pitch competition.
Dr. Arabnia’s investment will certainly help the Club expand, and as Dr. Arabnia stated, to aid members to become “men and women ready to face the business world.” He adds, “I thank the club for demonstrating that one can achieve success through ethical business conduct, and by providing concrete attention to the community.”
John Cabot University and the Business Club thank Dr. Arabnia for his generous donation.
