Professor Salvatore and Fashion Retailing Students Visit Stores in Rome Center
Summer Session I students taking MKT 355 – Fashion Retailing were recently involved in an on-site lecture and assignment visiting leading fashion stores in Rome city centre. The group was led by Professor Antonella Salvatore, Business Administration Professor and Coordinator of JCU’s Career Services Center.
JCU students enjoyed the opportunity to gather data about three of the most important fashion retailers based in Rome: Gap, Guess and Ferrari. Thanks to this on-site lecture, students were able to assess the stores’ image elements and visual merchandising hands-on.
Their assignment tasks included defining the trading area of the stores and the characteristics of the locations. They also had to analyze the stores’ design, customer service and employees’ attitude, and how fashion retailers display their products in order to influence customers’ behavior.
Antonella Salvatore, MBA, has an extensive background in marketing and retail, having worked as Retail Director for global brands such as Calvin Klein Jeans Europe, Miss Sixty and Energie. At JCU, she teaches Marketing, International Marketing, Retail Management and Fashion Retailing, and is the Career Services Center (CSC) Coordinator.
Initiatives such as this and the work carried out by the CSC, helping students gain access into competitive internships and jobs at leading Italian and International companies, illustrate the way John Cabot University focuses not only on its students’ academic excellence , but also on their job market prospects while studying and after graduation.
