Canadian-American poet James Arthur will be Writer in Residence in JCU's Creative Writing Institute in Summer 2022. Arthur is the author of The Suicide’s Son (Véhicule Press 2019) and Charms Against Lightning (Copper Canyon Press, 2012).

Alumna Mariolina Castellaneta has recently been accepted for an M.A. in Directing at MetFilm School in Berlin, Germany. Mariolina graduated in 2020 with a degree in English Literature and a minor in Creative Writing.

Born and raised in Rome, alumnus Dario Diofebi graduated from La Sapienza University with a triennale and a specialistica degree in Comparative Literature. In the summer of 2015, Dario did a graduate creative writing workshop at JCU. He then went on to earn an MFA in Creative Writing at New York University. Dario recently published his novel Paradise, Nevada (Bloomsbury, 2021).

Before working as a Cybersecurity Information and Communication officer at the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium she was a trainee in the Events and Creative department at Verve International in Shanghai, China.

Carson McCullers in the World: A Centenary Conference, held at John Cabot University in July 2017, has led to the publication of a collection of essays on the American novelist. Carson McCullers: A Centenary Collection was edited by JCU's English Literature and Creative Writing Professor Carlos Dews, who is an authority on the life and work of the author.
