John Cabot University’s English Literature Department organized a Student Reading on November 19, 2018. Ten students from various academic departments stood up and read creative writing pieces they produced. The works included fiction, non-fiction and poems, read in English and also Italian.

Last October, JCU participated in Frankenreads, a global celebration of the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. During the month-long event, students, faculty, and staff participated in the live read-a-thon and attended various Frankenstein-themed events. Frankenreads came to an end on Halloween night, with a lecture given by author Fiona Sampson.

JCU English professor Carlos Dews is currently on a lecture tour in Australia on American author Carson McCullers. On November 23, he will be at the University of New South Wales where he will be speaking about his ongoing project editing the Selected Letters of Carson McCullers.

Flavia Brunetti presented her newly published book 'All the Way to Italy- A Modern Tale of Homecoming Through Generations Past' at John Cabot University on September 26, 2018. Born just outside of Rome but raised in the United States, Flavia attended John Cabot and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Political Science.

Aidan Fadden is an assistant professor of writing and a freelance editor, translator, and literary reviewer. His poetry has been published in Stand, The North, Magma, Lunar Poetry, and Cordite, and in translation in Italian literary magazines such as Pagine and Saragana.

Shannon Russell is Associate Professor of English Literature and Chair of the Department of English Language and Literature at JCU. She specializes in eighteenth and nineteenth-century fiction with interests in gender, class, and race, scientific discourse, Victorian technologies, and visual representations in the nineteenth century periodical press.
