John Cabot University Opens New Digital Media Lab

John Cabot University is pleased to announce the opening of the Digital Media Lab, coordinated by Professor Brian Thomson.

As technology and digital media are constantly changing, John Cabot University is striving to provide our Communications students with the skills they need to thrive in the working world. Equipped with thirteen 27-inch i-Mac computers featuring Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, and a wide variety of editing software, the new Digital Media Lab will serve as an important resource for our communications faculty and students.

The new Digital Media lab will further support and expand the integration of the theoretical part of the curriculum with the more practical, multimedia production- oriented component of communications studies. In addition to digital video production, the lab is perfectly suited to support motion graphics, digital animation, and audio/sound production and design.

The Lab’s coordinator, Professor Brian Thomson, has been working in the field for nearly 20 years. With B.A. and M.A. degrees from New York University, a Ph.D. from University College Dublin, and extensive experience in film production in both the United States and Europe, Professor Thomson’s expertise in the field will be fundamental toward the Digital Media Lab’s future projects. Professor Thomson has many plans for the Digital Media lab, including a web-based university television station and new projects with JCU’s Film, Media, and Communication Society.
