On November 7th John Cabot welcomed over 100 high school students, teachers and parents from Italy, Croatia, the U.S. and Russia. Open Houses introduce students to John Cabot’s liberal arts education by providing university lectures, a description of the resources and campus activities available, and a campus tour.

President Franco Pavoncello‘s opening remarks were followed by a lecture by Professor Silvia Pulino on entrepreneurship, which focused on how to turn an idea into a viable business opportunity. The second lecture, by Professor Lars Rensmann, analyzed the impact of sports on national identity and international relations.

The coffee break was a time for relaxing and mingling. Students, professors and parents had a chance to chat and exchange their ideas and experiences from different parts of the world.

Professor Michèle Favorite then described the wealth of John Cabot resources available, from the Career Services Center (which was simultaneously hosting a Career Fair with 56 companies) to Study-abroad opportunities. Finally, Pilar Murguia, Director of Student Services, provided an explanation of a student clubs, housing, employment, faculty-led trips.

The campus tour closed the day and benefited from a clearing in the otherwise rainy day!
