Professor Pejman Abdolmohammadi JCU Lecturer in Political Science, recently published the book L’Iran contemporaneo: le sfide interne e internazionali di un paese strategico (Modern Iran: Internal and International Challenges of a Strategic Country) with Italy’s leading publisher, Mondadori.

The book, co-authored with Giampiero Cama, aims to provide readers with an agile analytical tool to facilitate the understanding of Iran, a nation that is complex and at times contradictory, but which remains most decisive for our future. As Abdolmohammadi states: “Iran is a key country. Its position, rank, and cultural heritage mean that it exerts a considerable influence on the stability of the world and the Middle East.”

Last week, Prof. Abdolmohammadi was interviewed on the role of Iran in the Syrian crisis by Radio Vaticana, the official broadcasting service of the Vatican. Italian public radio RAI Radio Uno, also interviewed him on the tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, as did the Italian daily newspaper
La Repubblica.

He is also Visiting Research Fellow at London School of Economics – Middle East Centre and teaches Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Genoa.
