The John Cabot University community is pleased to welcome our new and returning degree-seeking and study abroad students to campus this spring 2016.

With over 1,200 students enrolled, this spring marks one of John Cabot’s largest and most diverse groups of students in history. JCU’s new degree-seeking students represent 10 countries including: Azerbaijan, Brazil, Ecuador, Ghana, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, the Russian Federation, Serbia, and the United States.

Our American degree-seekers come from 7 states including: California, Delaware, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin. Our Italian students represent 10 regions in Italy, including Abruzzo, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Puglia, Sicily, and Veneto.

Our visiting students are traveling to Rome from 38 US states, 9 countries, and 135 universities in the United States, Canada, Egypt, Greece, and the Republic of Korea.

JCU staff, Orientation Leaders and Skippers will greet students at the Hilton Airport Hotel upon their arrival to Rome on January 12 and 13. Students complete orientation and housing check-in forms at the Hilton, and are subsequently taken to their new Roman homes by a JCU shuttle bus.

During the five-day Orientation, students participate in sessions designed to introduce them to the University and the Eternal City. Skippers lead their groups through Navigation 101, a tour of Rome which acquaints students with the city center and teaches them how to purchase a public transportation ticket, find their closest pharmacy and supermarket, and discover the quickest route to Rome’s main train station, Termini.

In order to enhance students’ spring 2016 semester experience, the Office of Student Services has prepared a wide variety of activities including Italian cooking classes, tours in Rome, and an opera visit, as well as day and weekend trips to the region of Campania and the Italian cities of Montalcino, Viterbo, Orvieto, and the Roman countryside. Students will also be able to participate in a variety of exercise classes at the Fitness Center located in the Gianicolo Residence, travel with the JCU Athletics team to ski, hike, bike, and sail in Abruzzo and Lazio, and try out for our soccer, basketball, and volleyball teams.

JCU staff and Orientation Leaders and Skippers are looking forward to meeting everyone!
