Student Sara Pan Interns at Ferragamo

My name is Sara Pan, an undergraduate student at John Cabot University. I am currently studying Business Administration with a minor in Psychology. I was always intrigued by the business world and its functioning, and this is why chose it as my field of study. As I learned more and more theories and business techniques, I wanted to put them into practice.

Through LinkedIn, I was hired as a Sales Assistant Intern at Salvatore Ferragamo, which is one of the world’s leaders of luxury goods and whose origins date back to 1927. The company is active in the creation, production and sale of shoes, leather goods, clothing, silk products and other accessories, as well as women’s and men’s perfumes.

My main task as a Sales Assistant is to ensure the selling of products to consumers. However, before actually selling the product, I need to understand consumers’ needs and demands, which vary according to different demographics. Salvatore Ferragamo’s prestige attracts consumers from every part of the world and as a result I have to deal simultaneously with many different people, which is very demanding both physically and psychologically. Nevertheless, I am learning so much and improving many skills that are fundamental in business:  communication and customer service, time-management and organization, multitasking, teamwork with colleagues, and stress-management.

Through John Cabot University I have grown both personally and academically. Thanks to JCU’s  international and multicultural environment, I had the opportunity to get to know people from different cultural and geographical backgrounds. Furthermore, thanks to John Cabot, I studied abroad in the United States, which has further enriched my cultural knowledge. This international experience has been very useful in facilitating my interaction with Ferragamo’s international consumers and identifying their needs.
