Professor Sorgner Gives Talk for "Question of Will" Art Project.
On December 16, 2016, John Cabot University’s Philosophy Professor Stefan Sorgner gave a talk on “Posthuman Perspectives” for the “Question of Will” art project. In the speech, Professor Sorgner tackles issues of attribution of personhood, makes a case for moving beyond a dualist understanding of human beings, examines the impact that technological developments in the near future will have on various aspects of human life, and more.

The Question of Will art project is organized by the Open Society Foundation Bratislava, the Slovak chapter of the homonymous Foundations created by philanthropist George Soros to “build vibrant and tolerant societies whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people”. Question of Will aims to shed light on what “will” is in current times.
Professor Sorgner, a member of JCU’s faculty since 2016, is one of the world’s leading leading post- and transhumanist philosophers. He is director and co-founder of the Beyond Humanism Network, Fellow at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies (IEET) and Research Fellow at the Ewha Institute for the Humanities at Ewha Womans University in Seoul.
